3. Educational and Medical Disclaimer
1. Information provided through WAOPRS is intended primarily for academic, educational, scientific and professional informational purposes.
2. Website content does not constitute individualized medical advice, diagnosis, prescription or treatment and must not substitute for consultation with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

4. Clinical decisions remain the independent responsibility of the treating healthcare professional.
5. Accessing the website or communicating with WAOPRS does not create a doctor-patient relationship between the user and WAOPRS, its President, office-bearers, members, faculty, contributors or associated professionals.
6. Medical emergencies should be directed to appropriate local emergency medical services rather than through the website.
4. Accuracy and Updating of Scientific Information
1. WAOPRS endeavors to maintain scientifically reliable and appropriately reviewed content. Nevertheless, medicine, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and surgical techniques continually evolve.
2. WAOPRS therefore does not warrant that all educational information will remain complete, current or suitable for every clinical situation.
3. Publication of educational content does not constitute a guarantee of a particular clinical outcome.
4. WAOPRS reserves the right to correct, update, replace or withdraw content without prior notice.
5. Membership
1. Membership shall be governed by the Constitution, Rules, Bylaws, membership regulations and decisions of the competent governing body of WAOPRS.
2. Submission of an application or payment of a membership fee does not automatically create membership unless the applicable membership category provides otherwise.
3. WAOPRS may verify professional qualifications, identity, registration, institutional affiliation or other eligibility information before approving an application.
4. Membership may be declined, suspended or terminated in accordance with WAOPRS's governing documents and applicable principles of fairness and law.
5. Membership does not authorize a member to represent, bind, contract on behalf of or issue statements in the name of WAOPRS unless expressly authorized in writing.

1. All applicable membership fees, duration, renewal requirements, taxes and other charges should be disclosed before payment.
2. Unless expressly described as lifetime membership, membership shall continue only for the applicable membership period.
3. Any change in future membership fees shall apply prospectively in accordance with the applicable membership rules.
4. Fees already paid will be handled in accordance with the applicable refund policy and mandatory provisions of Indian law.
7. Conferences, Webinars and Educational Programs
1. WAOPRS may conduct conferences, workshops, webinars, CMEs, training courses, fellowships, observerships and other educational activities.
2. WAOPRS reserves the right, where reasonably necessary, to change speakers, faculty, schedules, venues, delivery formats or program content.
3. If an event is cancelled or materially changed, the applicable event-specific cancellation/refund terms shall govern, subject always to mandatory legal rights.
4. Participation in a course, webinar or conference does not by itself constitute certification of clinical competence, specialist qualification, licensure or authorization to perform any medical or surgical procedure unless expressly stated.
8. Payments
1. Payments may be processed through independent banks, payment gateways or other authorized payment service providers.
2. Users are responsible for providing accurate billing and transaction information.
3. WAOPRS should not intentionally store complete payment-card credentials unless its payment infrastructure has specifically been designed and lawfully configured to do so.
4. Payment confirmation is subject to successful receipt or verification of the transaction.
5. Applicable taxes and mandatory charges should be disclosed transparently where required.
9. Cancellation and Refund Policy
The refund policy applicable to each membership, conference, workshop, educational program or other paid service should be clearly displayed before payment.
As a recommended default:
Duplicate or erroneous payments: verified duplicate payments should ordinarily be refunded.
Event cancelled by WAOPRS: the relevant registration fee should ordinarily be refunded or, with the participant's agreement, transferred to a rescheduled event or equivalent program.
Participant cancellation: eligibility and amount of refund may depend upon how far in advance cancellation is received and the published event-specific policy.
Non-attendance: ordinarily does not create an automatic entitlement to refund unless the applicable event policy provides otherwise.
No provision of these Terms shall be interpreted to remove a refund, remedy or other consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
This is particularly important because India's Consumer Protection framework includes specific requirements concerning transparent disclosure of return/refund and payment information in covered e-commerce contexts. Consumer Affairs

1. WAOPRS shall process personal data in accordance with applicable Indian law and its published Privacy Policy.
2. Depending upon the service used, WAOPRS may process information such as name, professional qualifications, registration details, institutional affiliation, contact information, membership information, conference registrations, communications and transaction records.

The 2025 Rules contemplate a clear, standalone and understandable notice identifying the personal data collected and purposes of processing. India Code
5. WAOPRS should therefore maintain a separate, comprehensive Privacy Policy rather than attempting to place all privacy disclosures inside these Terms.
11. Consent and Communications
1. Where consent is the applicable basis for processing, WAOPRS should obtain consent in a manner compliant with applicable law.
2. Consent to receive optional promotional or marketing communications should, where legally required or appropriate, be distinguishable from acceptance of essential membership or transaction terms.
3. Users should be provided with an appropriate mechanism to withdraw consent or unsubscribe from optional communications.
4. Withdrawal should not affect processing already lawfully undertaken before withdrawal or processing independently permitted or required by law.
12. Data Security
1. WAOPRS should implement reasonable administrative, organizational and technical safeguards appropriate to the nature of personal information processed.
2. Access to administrative systems and membership databases should be limited to authorized persons.

4. Any personal-data breach shall be addressed in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
13. Data Retention
Personal data should not be retained indefinitely merely because it has been collected.

14. Children's Data
WAOPRS is primarily a professional medical and academic organization and its membership services are generally not directed toward children.
If WAOPRS knowingly provides an online service involving processing of a child's personal data, additional safeguards required under applicable Indian data-protection law must be followed.
15. Intellectual Property
1. Unless otherwise stated, original content published by WAOPRS—including its logo, emblem, website design, graphics, educational material, conference material, videos, presentations, publications and other proprietary material—is owned by WAOPRS or used pursuant to authorization.
2. Users may access material for lawful personal, academic and professional reference subject to applicable copyright law.

16. WAOPRS Name, Logo and Identity
1. The names WAOPRS and World Association of Oculofacial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons, together with WAOPRS logos, emblems and branding, shall not be used in a manner that falsely suggests authorization, endorsement, accreditation, partnership, office-holding or representation.
2. Membership alone does not authorize commercial use of the WAOPRS name or logo.
3. WAOPRS reserves all rights and remedies available under applicable intellectual-property, passing-off and other laws against unauthorized or misleading use.
17. Academic Submissions and Patient Confidentiality
1. Authors, presenters and contributors are responsible for the legality and integrity of material submitted to WAOPRS.

4. Submitting material constitutes a representation that the contributor has the authority necessary for its submission and permitted use.
18. Research Integrity and Publication Ethics
WAOPRS supports principles of academic integrity, responsible authorship, transparent conflicts-of-interest disclosure, appropriate ethical approval and protection of research participants.
Plagiarism, fabricated or falsified data, manipulated images, fraudulent credentials or other serious academic misconduct may result in rejection, withdrawal, disciplinary action or referral to an appropriate institution where justified.
19. Professional Directory
1. Any directory of WAOPRS members, office-bearers, faculty or other professionals is provided principally for professional and informational purposes.
2. Inclusion in such a directory does not constitute a guarantee by WAOPRS regarding the individual's licensure, competence, professional conduct, availability or suitability for any particular patient.
3. Patients remain responsible for independently selecting an appropriate healthcare provider.
20. Third-Party Links and Services
1. The website may provide links to journals, scientific resources, payment processors, social-media services, sponsors and other external websites.

21. Sponsorship, Advertising and Conflicts of Interest
1. WAOPRS may collaborate with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, publishers, professional societies or commercial sponsors.

1. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the website and general educational material are provided on an “as available” basis.
2. WAOPRS does not guarantee uninterrupted website availability, absence of technical errors or that general educational information will meet every user's particular requirements.
3. This clause does not exclude statutory guarantees or obligations that cannot legally be excluded.
24. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WAOPRS, its governing body, office-bearers, employees, authorized representatives and contributors shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising solely from use of or reliance upon general informational content, temporary website unavailability, or third-party services outside WAOPRS's reasonable control.
25. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, a user who unlawfully misuses the website, infringes third-party intellectual-property rights, submits material without required authorization, or falsely represents an affiliation with WAOPRS shall be responsible for losses and reasonable costs directly resulting from such wrongful conduct.
